Brian Proctor is the team lead for the Information Security Engineering team at SDG&E. In his current role Brian’s team oversees over 100 active Sempra Energy Utility engagements to ensure information security requirements are met and all identified risks are properly treated. Prior to becoming team lead, Brian was Information Security Principal Engineer for the Electric Transmission/Distribution and Smart Grid business lines.
Before joining SDG&E, Brian was a member of Southern California Edison’s Information Security’s team for seven years. At Southern California Edison, Brian was the lead information security engineer on a variety of major corporate IT and OT initiatives and also acted as a NERC CIP compliance manager.
Brian is an International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) from ISACA, certified in project management from University of California at Irvine and has over 11 years of utility cybersecurity experience. In 2013, Brian was presented with the Critical Infrastructure Private Sector award from Securing our eCity a San Diego Cybersecurity non-profit organization. He currently acts as Securing our eCity’s private sector chair for the critical infrastructure team. Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a minor in Managerial Information Systems from the University of San Diego.
